Donald Lee Riley, 1942-2008

Donald Lee Riley of Junction City died June 7, 2008 at age 66. He was born Feb. 14, 1942 in Marysville, Mo., to Donald and Neva Adams Riley. He married Penny Nichols on Nov. 3, 2007 in Junction City. He worked in the woods and at mills in his early years and later worked as a horse shoer and trainer.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Larry of Marcola, Gary and Donnie, both of Springfield, and Darrell of Salem; six daughters, Carrie Riley, Sherrie Swain, Sherrie King and Billie Jo Scott, all of Springfield, Misty Young of Junction City and Tonya Coghil of England; his mother of Eugene; two brothers, Melvin “Bub” Riley of Washington and Tonie Nichols of Springfield; a sister, Carmen Rankin of Junction City; 28 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A grandson, Forrest Riley preceded him in death.

A memorial potluck was held June 14 at 27267 Orchard Road in Junction City. Andreason’s Cremation and Burial Service in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.

Boyce Randolph McKee, 1929-2008

Boyce Randolph McKee of Junction City died June 12, 2008 at age 79. Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City was in charge of arrangements.

A. Harriet Arruda, 1924-2008

A. Harriet Arruda of Junction City died June 4, 2008 at age 83. She was born Aug. 19, 1924 in Hazelton, Pa. She had a college education and worked as a registered nurse.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Garrett of Junction City; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. No service is planned. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene was in charge of arrangements.

Bernard L. McKenna Jr., 1916-2008

Bernard L. McKenna Jr. of Cottage Grove died May 30, 2008 at age 91. He was born Oct. 19, 1916 in Denver, to Bernard and Lillian Tillman McKenna. He married Virginia Sylvaine on June 14, 1952 in Los Angeles. He served in the Army in World War II with the 161st Infantry Regiment, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was self-employed with Drain Oil Recycling until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel of Cottage Grove; a daughter, Lillian Voigt of Junction City; and one grandchild. A private gamily gathering is planned. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Lenora Koons Turner, 1919-2008

Mildred Lenora Koons Turner of Eugene died June 11, 2008 at age 89. She was born April 24, 1919 in Swea City, Iowa, to William and Bessie Work Koons. She married Kenneth Turner in Fairmont, Minn. She completed high school in Fairmont, Minn. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Newman of Portland, Janet Bludworth of Eugene and Cindy Turner of Springfield; two sons, Randy of Harrisburg and Terry of Elmira; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her husband died Jan. 11, 1935; a son, Roger died July 27, 1999; a son, Garry died June 18, 1996; a daughter, Vicki Langhoff died March 22, 1994; and three grandchildren also preceded her in death.

The funeral was held June 16 at West Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Eugene. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Eugene. Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may go to the Oregon Cancer Society.

Jerry Casler, 1913-2008

Jerry Casler of Eugene died May 7, 2008 at age 94. He was born July 11, 1913 in Pine Grove, Wis., to Jerry and Ida Slack Casler. He married Laura LaRue on Sept. 16, 1933 in Shellaka, Wis. He was educated through the eighth grade. He worked as an auto mechanic in Grandview, Wis., and was a foreman at International Paper Co. in Vaughn.

Survivors include a daughter, Margeinea Bloom of Crow; a son, Don of Arizona; a sister, Virginia Burden of Rice Lake, Wis.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. His wife died Nov. 1, 1994.

A memorial service was held June 12 at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene. Memorials may go to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon or to Hospice of Sacred Heart in Eugene.
