OWNERSHIPBased in Junction City, Oregon, with a satellite office in Veneta, Oregon, Polin Media, Inc is a newspaper operation that has expanded to produce a variety of published products related to the communities it serves. The company was founded by Mike and Sandy Thoele in 1999 when they acquired the Tri-County News in Junction City and the West Lane News in Veneta. The company has seen substantial growth since then and has added to its array of publications. Its two newspapers have won numerous awards and are ranked in the top tier of Oregon weeklies. Polin Media, Inc has a dozen employees. In addition, through a strong tie with the University of Oregon School of Journalism, the company provides the largest newspaper journalism internship program in Oregon. It typically hosts up to 15 undergraduate and graduate students. In 2003, the News acquired a historic 1910 Craftsman house on the edge of the Junction City business district, restoring it to serve as headquarters for the company and the Tri-County News. |
